Inside the maceration room
Where time does the blending — the slow art of resting a composition.

The role of time
In perfumery, maceration commonly refers to a period of rest after a fragrance concentrate is blended with its carrier. It is distinct from maturation of the concentrate, although the terms are sometimes used loosely.
Rest, then assess
A resting period allows the perfumer to assess the blend over time. There is no single duration that suits every formula; materials, concentration and production method all matter.
Part of a larger process
Resting is followed by assessment and, where appropriate, filtration before filling. It is one part of making a fragrance, not a guarantee of quality on its own.
